Transitions

Life is short. Time moves on. People change. The list of how to get through life's most difficult times is rife with cliches. I am living proof that cliches might work but somehow, I truly feel it was dogged determination to meet a God set goal. Through many prayers, dropped off meals, tear laden phone calls and a few kicks in the pants, all of the children reached the great age of 18!

Now, life is different-calmer, easier, gentler, much more predictable and, almost, fun at times. The problematic start to several of our children still haunts them but, my husband and I now act as guides. The two young men still abide with us but it is different. Assisting young adults towards unknown goals does not involve school meetings, in home therapy or multiple visits to health care offices each week. At last, we are both looking for meaning in other aspects of life.

Not in the too distant path, my dad linked me up with poetry written by his mom. I am now putting those poems together and will share her insights into life. It has been blessing to get to know this stranger through her writings, gaining understanding into her difficult life laced with tragedy.

I am looking forward this new adventure as I transition from one part of life to the next. But, take heed. This part of my life would not be what it is without every part coming before it. I am, as you will be also, a sum total of all the parts-good, bad, happy, sad, tragic, sweet-of a life well lived as God intended.
